Vision
The Sonosite LX was designed to replace the highly successful X-Porte system that was launched in late 2013. The project vision was to reduce barriers and enable medical professionals while adhering to Sonosite's core values of durability, reliability, ease of use, and education.
The LX was a collaborative solution developed by a core team of engineers and Industrial Design. The team was tasked with creating a premium Ultrasound system while leveraging successful features and user-experience attributes of the well-received PX and X-Porte systems.
Skills: User research, usability testing, prototyping, industrial design

Optimized Workflow
The LX features a 21" touch-screen display equipped with advanced image clarity enabling it to have the largest clinical image across the Sonosite product portfolio . The elevated display facilitates a heads-up workflow. An articulating hinge system allows for maximum user accessibility and adaptability near the patient bedside while still having a small footprint in diverse medical environments.
Test, Test, Test
The ID team collaborated with cross-functional teams including human factors, UX, and mechanical engineering to mock-up and test robust user-centered prototypes. User studies and case observations guided design decisions and allowed us to refine the ultimate design solution.
